vokul is fast, accurate, and tuned for noisy environments, like your car!

Use simple voice commands to interact with vokul, even while audio is playing. You can skip backward and forward within a track, navigate between tracks, pause/resume playback, and speed up or slow down podcasts!

Launch vokul and connect your device to your car* stereo system for the ultimate handsfree audio experience!

Examples:

“hey vokul ... (dings) ... text Andrew”

“hey vokul ... (dings) ... email Pat”

“hey vokul ... (dings) ... call Mom at home”

“hey vokul ... (dings) ... play sonata in F major”

“hey vokul ... (dings) ... play 80s”

“hey vokul ... (dings) ... update my Facebook status”

“hey vokul ... (dings) ... post to Twitter”

New in version 1.2, its easier than ever to stay in touch safely while on the go. vokul now supports Bluetooth headsets and in-vehicle systems* - its the safest way to send a message while driving!

Unlike other voice control apps, vokul can be controlled entirely with your voice. vokul responds to your commands only when called upon – just say "hey vokul" to get vokul’s attention. You can even say commands while audio is playing, thanks to vokuls acoustic echo cancellation (AEC) technology.

With vokul, button presses and distracted screen glances are a thing of the past!

Examples (while audio is playing):

“vokul forward 30” : skips forward 30 seconds

“vokul back” : skips backward 15 seconds (configurable)

“vokul pause” : pauses playback

“vokul play podcasts” : starts playing podcasts; the most recent episode is played first

vokul works on iOS devices including the iPhone 3GS and later models, iPod touch 3G and later models (iPod touch 3G requires an external mic), and all iPad models. Supported freeform dictation languages include English and Spanish (Europa, Mexican, and U.S.).

Check out www.vokulnation.com for more information and videos showing vokul in action.

* Bluetooth operation is great for messaging; A2DP mode for music playback is NOT supported, due to iOS limitations.

Note: vokul currently does not support reading received text messages, due to limitations imposed by iOS.

Note: Starting with iOS 6, you must press send to send a text message or email. This is due to iOS restrictions.

Pros and cons of vokul app for iPhone and iPad

vokul app good for

I dont have to take my hand out of my glove to pinch the remote to skip songs or play playlists anymore because of the always on function. Wouk be good to add "vokul volume up/down" commands and "what time is it?" commands.
Bought this app as I need something better than Siri for in the car. Voice recognition is pretty good. Better some days than others, but Im still getting use to it. This app has great potential. Hopefully they keep up on it to improve its compatibility with the stock music app. Sometime the two apps confuse each other, and its hard to stop/play one another when in the car, as when the iPhone gets connected via USB to a headunit in a car, it automatically start playing music from the stock music app. Anyway, overall 9/10.
This app trumps any other voice app out there ( including Siri ) the guy rating one star based on A2DP. Uhh go buy a FM transmitter or a audio cable, works flawless in the car.
First, this works with everything back to a 3GS! Great app, use this when Im driving or walking the dogs. Get lots done by sending texts and emails - all without having to pull my iPhone out of my jacket. Listen to music, skip ahead, next song - all supported! One of my top app recommendations! :-) Easter Egg - say "Thank you vokul!)
So worth the price. Safety convince all in a futuristic package. Made my BMW even cooler over the speaker phone

Some bad moments

They restrict you to 20 dictations in a 24 hour period and it uses Nuance. Of course were informed of this AFTER weve paid for the app. IF I Was aware of this beforehand, I wouldnt have purchased the app.
Agree with the other reviewer. After buying the application Im notified that it can only take 20 dictations a day as it uses Nuance. If this was a free app I could understand, but for a pay app to impose these limits and also only tell the user after they get your money is really cheating. This should be disclosed way up front. Wish I hadnt rushed and bought this. Hope this helps other users to not make the same mistake I did.
This does not play music, podcasts, nor text - even if Music or iMessages is already on - on iPad 2. Wish I could get a refund!!!!!!! Arrrrgggghhhh
How hard can it be to make it work ? I bought the app long ago thinking this would be added in the next release as stated on their website. But its a let down at every update. I guess "Bluetooth support coming" only meant operations/texting which isnt as usefull. Cant use it in my car so I just never use it. Thanks for taking my money.
Poor voice recognition, very limited app. Not happy with myself for rushing to make this purchase.
Useless, works great until you want to send a text, you have to press send.....
